If you obtain a protection order against someone, wouldn’t you want to be alerted if that person comes near you? For the past few years I sponsored a bill that would make that possible, in real time. If Tiffany Hill had been able to get an alert on her phone, it might have saved her life. Unfortunately, we’ll never know…but going forward, there is only an upside to passing my Senate Bill 5149. Maybe Tiffany Hill’s story will help convince enough of my colleagues that this is the right thing to do in 2020.
