OLYMPIA, Wash. — Hunters can now be pretty in pink. Governor Jay Inslee signed ESSB 5148 which expands the clothing requirements for hunters to include fluorescent pink, in addition to traditional orange.
Fluorescent pink doesn’t blend in with anything that occurs in nature in a forest or field, so safety officials deemed it okay for hunters. It’s also equal to fluorescent orange in terms of visibility to other hunters.
Sen. Lynda Wilson, R-Vancouver, is a longtime hunter and sponsor of the bill. She also has been undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
“The idea received unanimous support in the Legislature, and I can see hunter pink being very popular with women and men, especially because pink is linked to the fight against breast cancer,” she said.
