Rep. Lynda Wilson appointed to joint legislative committee

Rep. Lynda Wilson, R-Vancouver, was appointed to the bipartisan Joint Administrative Rules Review Committee by Speaker of the House Frank Chopp. She released the following statement on her appointment:

“I am honored to have been appointed to the Joint Administrative Rules Review Committee by House leadership. I came to Olympia to improve efficiency in state government and to ensure the playing field is level so our economy can grow and our citizens can prosper. This begins with ensuring state agencies develop administrative rules rooted in the intent of the statutes passed by the Legislature. I look forward to working with the committee in the coming months and providing much-needed oversight to state agencies.”

The Joint Administrative Rules Review Committee is made up of four senators and four representatives, representing both caucuses. Members, in conjunction with state agencies, work to ensure administrative rules are within the scope of the statutes passed by the Legislature. Further, members make recommendations to the Legislature based on their findings, and in some cases can suspend rules found to be outside of the Legislature’s intent.
